Scripture teaches that in Christ we are all members of one body, and that each member belongs to all the others (Romans 12:5, 1 Corinthians 12:12-). Because of this, we take membership seriously here at Hope Church. Membership at Hope Church is open only to those who profess faith in Jesus Christ and who believe the basic teachings of the Christian faith. We also require that all members affirm our Statement of Faith and Church Covenant. Here's a brief overview of the membership process:
This is the first step toward becoming a member at Hope Church. This informative membership class examines our vision, Statement of Faith, Church Covenant, leadership style, philosophy of ministry, and many other important areas. Our goal is to help you understand Hope Church in greater depth and what we expect of our members. Attending this class does not obligate you to join Hope Church.
Our elders interview all potential members before they join. This isn't an interrogation--rather, this time gives our pastors an opportunity to get to know prospective members, hear their testimonies of conversion, and answer any questions they may have about our beliefs or our structure.
We believe that the church body, led by the elders, has the final authority and responsibility for admitting new members. You will be asked to attend a Sunday morning service where you will stand before the congregation and affirm your personal trust in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins and the hope of eternal life. Afterward, the church will vote on receiving you as a new member of our church family.
